I'm Joey-Elijah - a writer, blogger, tech 'nerd', developer, freelance journalist, short film maker and a million other things besides.
I author a popular blog on the awesome Linux distribution 'Ubuntu', which can be found at omgubuntu.co.uk.
This blog is sort of like my sideboard of synaptical impulses; the stuff i can say and not give a frakk about.
It'll all make sense one day...
Yesterday i finally got around to watching two 80’s films i really should’ve seen a hell of a lot sooner - namely ‘Fast Times At Ridgemont High’ and ‘The Outsiders’.
Both were incredible and I’m not gonna get all pesudo-movie reviewer about them, i just have to share that i’m finally part of the clique now that i’ve seen them and totally appreciate them.
‘Fast Times At Ridgemont High’ is a film i wish i’d seen years sooner - it’s just so funny!
‘The Outsiders’ (directed by Francis Ford Copolla and based upon the famous novel) was just utterly moving.
So, to sum up this pointless post, i’ll leave you with a fullstop.
I’m on a hunt for punk-y bracelets, sweatbands and other wrist adornments atm! Why? I guess because I have quite skinny arms and they sometimes feel a bit naked to me.
See any online that are a) awesome and b) cheap, let me know!
I have to put ‘Chariots Of Fire’ in here, purely because it is so awesome. If you thought that BWO’s previous video’s were weird… check this one out! It involves Martin (the lead singer) as a dog, scantly clad car washing babes and deckchairs!
It’s so difficult not to post all of BWO’s videos because they’re all so good! If you like what you hear check out BWO on facebook or wikipedia and grab a copy of their singles collection ‘Pandemonium’.
Tack!
This following track - Sunshine In The Rain - was their first UK release (albeit in a soul seekers remix form) and was championed by Sir Terry Of Wogan himself! A very odd video (as always from BWO) this song just never ages.
This next track was their second single from their first album ‘Prototype’ and just oozes the BWO style and sound. It’s called ‘Conquering America’. This video features some former ‘Army Of Lovers’ members (Of which Alexander was a member). It is also the first BWO video to feature what would become a staple part of their video’s - bizarre red liquid in strange places and plays up to their band name of ‘Bodies Without Organs’.
Tomorrow sees the release of BWO’s fourth studio album, and sixth album over all. To say I’m excited is a very very massive understatement!
It’s called ‘Big Science’ and from online reviews and preview clips i can safely say it’s one of their best albums yet! They’ve taken their electro-pop sound and matured it slightly resulting in something really special. The second single from ‘Big Science’ is called ‘Right Here, Right Now’ and…. it’s epic.
As a little nod to the genii of ‘The Bard’ (Alexander Bard, member, producer, song writer, creator of several other iconic bands throughout the nineties and naughties AND co-author of two seminal sociology/philosophical books) i thought I’d just post a few of the BWO’s best videos.
First up is this - the lead single and 2008 melodifestivalen entry ‘Lay Your Love On Me’. Both a club stomper and ode to ABBA (“Take a chance on me, take the liberty - lay your love on me…”) it’s easily one of their greatest tracks… plus they’re dressed in neo-Edwardian costumes so what’s not to love!
I’m having a “totally-falling-in-love-with-zebrahead-all-over-again” day today and i’ve just played this song on repeat for about half an hour…
Check out Ali’s hair in this video - it’s fucking awesome!

Okay i want this quite bad! Currently only available in China (or USA for a heavily inflated 3rd party import fee).
It’s called the SmartQ 5 and boasts so many sexy/awesome/rad features i want to lick it.
It has a 4.3-inch (800 x480) touchscreen and an (as yet unknown) ARM processor running a full Ubuntu distro! Yay!
The best bit is the price. It has a super low, low pricetag of 899 Chinese Yuan! That’s about $132 / £90 / €97. That’s just INSANE. It’ll likely pack a 600Mhz or greater processor given their other (year old) products ship with one, which means it will most certainly outperform the Nokia N810 which is priced at £220!
Now to investigate import charges for one of these!
Lili and Susie came to my attention, however, due to their reformation and partidcipation in this years Melodifestivalen contest. They entered with a new track called ‘Show Me Heaven” that whilst winning it’s way to the second chance round, didn’t proceed any further.
I really do like them! It’s awesome that after 15 years out of the lime light they have reformed, and they’re currently recording a brand new album! Gå Lili Och Susie!!

They say admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery. So i’m here to tell you all: -
My name is Joey-Elijah and i’m addicted to the Celebrity Apprentice. Again.
Yes, it’s that time of the year again where Donald ‘budgie for hair’ Trump fawns over the c-list ensemble taking time out of their.. er… careers and doing their bit for charity.
I’m not going to review it or shit because that’s what everyother blog post in the web-o-sphere does, i just have to admit that i love, love, LOVE the show! It’s so cheesy, clichéd and full of the tense sounds of ego’s rubbing and general showbiz posturing. It’s great.
I do wonder whether American’s sit there watching it really being taken in as the harp’s and strings slowly fade in whenever a star mentions their charity/that they’re doing this for charity/that they’re ringing every contact in their ‘rolodex’ (wtf is a rolodex? A filofax? Haven’t they heard of smartphones?!) because this just means so much to them.
It’s like one of those really sappy TV Movie’s laden with sympathy on steroids and really awful dialogue.
The best bit about it all is, undoubtedly, the boardroom. You quickly learn that the ‘zelebs’ are all taking this all very, very seriously and their pathetic quips and plays for Trumps affection/attention are cringeworthy.
How they find the strength to bite their tounges around him is as much a mystery as what animal Donald’s hair is made from. I’d be so tempted to just ask him if he really does take himself and the whole show that seriously.
When he’s sat there drilling them asking ‘How much money did you bring in?! HOW MUCH?” I’d really have to resist the urge to say ‘Well, Donald, you didn’t answer when i called you.” He has the cheek to berate his contestants for not bringing in ‘enough’ of the mean-green yet i never see him out there buying one of their cupcakes or wedding dresses during tasks.

Can’t wait for the next episode! XD
I FINALLY got around to watching this last night. I bought the DVD back in…. 2005? Was certainly a loooooong while ago.
I’m not the type of person who can sit there and pick apart a movie as i watch, i get too caught up, so i make a terrible movie reviewer as i base everything on feeling and what it made me feel or think and not whether it had semiotic relationships to the auters other works etc… Yawn!
I have a soft spot for a lot of 60’s films that like this - i’m longing to buy lots of Harryhausen - espeically the Sinbad trilogy.
‘The Time Machine’ was pretty darn enjoyable. The scene where the Morlocks stalkedly approach George , Weena and the other Eloi as they hide behind a rock was actually quite disurbing; all you see are their silhouted hulky frames and these bright, piercing white eyes coming towards you. Scaaaary stuff!
